Our Farm

This is truly a family farm. It is run by Mike and Cynthia Beretta, their three children, Thomas, Marcus and Lieschen, and Mike's parents, Troy and Anne. We are also fortunate to benefit from a skilled, hardworking, and loyal team of full-time staff, both on the farm and in the butcher shop. In addition, the farm attracts numerous people from all walks of life to come and spend time working on the farm.

 

 

Our farm is located just outside King City, Ontario, 20 minutes north of Toronto. It covers over 800 acres of land on which we grow grains (oats, barley, rye and corn), hay, pasture and vegetables (potatoes, beets, garlic) and greenhouse greens. We raise beef cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, turkeys, chickens and laying hens. Some of the farm work is done with our two Percheron horses Ben and Mabel.

 

 

We grow our animals and feed according to strict organic standards and are certified by the Organic Crop Producers and Processors OCPP.

 

 

Beretta Organic Farms not only grows the meat and produce, but does the processing as well. We do all our own cutting and wrapping, smoking, sausage making, etc. This makes us truly accountable for the product from farm to table. It also allows us to provide a product that is custom-processed for each unique customer's needs.

 

 

The farm offers several interesting events to allow you to participate indirectly in the growing of your food. Several farm tours are posted during the year for you to bring the family and see how your food is grown, and there are always activities for the children as well. There is an entertaining barn dance every spring, complete with fiddlers, callers and of course dancing. In the fall we attempt to re-enact a threshing bee, with a two week period of binding, stooking and threshing grain open to all to participate. See our Special Farm Events page for details.
